Our school is situated on Madurai – Cochin National Highways(NH 49), just about 10 km to the west of Madurai on the way to Madurai Kamaraj University. The school came into existence because of the philanthropic contributions of Madurai Nadar Uravinmurai. The philanthropist Shri S.G. Jayaraj Nadar contributed a lion’s share and hence the school is named after him. Our school has another importance – the foundation stone was laid on 11.09.1955 and declared open on 07.06.1957 with 183 students by Baratha Rathna Shri K. Kamaraj, the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. Our school is now running with 2839 students.
With well-equipped hostel, laboratory, library, playground, auditorium with transport facility etc., the school is running in an elevated style in enlightening the student community. With the novel infrastructure, our school is functioning to the fullest possible extent in every field of education.
Jayaraj Nadar’s talent and skill are immeasurable. Once there was a severe landslide in the hill roads. Even before the steps taken by the government engineers, Jayaraj Nadar himself took immediate steps and repaired them to the astonishment of everybody. Before the expected time he completed the work and got appreciated. Further because of his efforts, from Kodaikanal the hill road to Munnar through Barijam was laid. The English people were surprised and amazed at his work.
In the year 1951, the Nadar Uravinmurai was registered. As a school was to be started by the uravinmurai, he donated one lakh amount whole heartedly. Directly he involved himself in the construction of building. He also offered his vehicles to carry the building materials to be taken from various places to the spot. After the school was opened, he also donated a bus for the transport facility of the students.

Xavier Matric. Hr. Sec. School, a Christian Minority Institution, a Co-educational school was established in the year 1996 and now nurturing students from Class L.K.G. to Std XII every year. We are following the SCERT curriculum.The curriculum adopted in the school ensures the achievement of high communicative competence in English. The medium of instruction is English.Triangular language of Tamil, English and Hindi are implemented. We have scored Centum results in X Std for 17 years and got centum in 9 consecutive years continuously in it. In the same year ten xavierians secured centum marks in Science. Also we have secured centum results for three consecutive years in Std XII in Science group and got centum results for 7 consecutive years continuously in Arts group.
