Sree Sankara English Medium School is situated in a serene setting with the Tripurakulangara in its front. Goddess Karthyayani , the patroness of Cherthala , comes annually to the pond on her festival day ‘Cherthala Pooram’ for the ceremonial bath (Arrattu). Proximity to the pond is the identifying mark of our school.

SSEMS commenced functioning on 07-06-1990 under the resourceful management of the Puliyamkottu Bhagom NSS Karayogam (Educational and cultural Society, A 628/96, Tripurakulangara, Cherthala) committee comprising of the president Sri M.P Govindankutty Nair, the secretary Sri P.K. Bhaskarakurup and 9 members.

From a very modest beginning with  1 KG Division and a teacher, the school traversed a path of progress, to become a centre of excellence that imparts quality education. Securing CBSE Affiliation in 2002, Sree Sankara began ascending the steps towards academic excellence. The sincere and selfless service of the former principals, Sri.K.Gopalakrishnan Nair, Sri.P.K.Narayanakurup and Sri. N.Somasekhara Panicker also contributed substantially to the growth of the institution.

The founder of the Sree Narayana trust is the late Sri R Shankar (1909 – 1972), a dynamic leader with wide vision. It was founded in 1952 in the name of the great saint and social reformer Sree Narayana guru (1856 – 1928) to realize one of his important messages, “Freedom Through Education” . The trust has played an important role in the educational advancement of Kerala, especially in the upliftment of the socially and educationally backward section of the society. So far its accent has been on the higher education section. But now the management has directed its attention to the primary secondary and senior secondary levels of the education as well. With the establishment of the school the dream of the founder to have an educational complex from the primary to the doctorate level in the same campus is being realized.

BSMM Nirmala English Medium School​​​​​​​ - CBSE Syllabus

BSMM (Bishop Sebastian Mankuzhikary Memorial) Nirmala English Medium School, Thanneermukkom started in 1992. Late Rev. Fr. Alexander Eravimangalam, Vicar of Precious Blood Church Thanneermukkom, started the school in 1992 in memory of Bishop Sebastian Mankuzhikary (1929- 1994), parishioner, to uplift the standard of the people of Thanneermukkom and its surroundings without the discrimination of cast, colour and creed through the education.

After the Ordination Fr. Sebastian Mankuzhikary resumed his studies at the Gregorian University, Rome and took Doctorate in Philosophy. He was consecrated as the Auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam- Angamaly Archdiocese on 6th January 1970. He was appointed as the Bishop of Thamarassery Diocese on 3rd July 1989. He passed away on 11th June 1994 and was buried in the pro-cathedral at Thiruvampady. Fr. Alexander Eravimangalam was a great visionary. His dream was realized with the support of people of different religious faith. Followed him, Rev. Fr. Celestine Inchackal took the charge of Manager and spent his energy and skills for the development of the School.

Dr. Margarett Mariam and team from Germany made a contribution for the first phase of the school. Rev. Fr. Joshy Kalaparambath worked hard and achieved No Objection Certificate of Government of Kerala and the Affiliation form the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Now Rev. Fr. Joseph D Plackal is the Manager of the School.
