METTO
The school motto ‘serve and grow’ reflects the essence of the ‘dasoha’ philosophy of the Sharnbasveshwar Samastana which originates form the exhortations of the St Sharnbasveshwara. The word dasoha come from the two Sanskrit roots aham which means ‘self’ or ‘I,’ and dasa meaning servant. Hence, Dasoha essentially is an offering of the self at the service of humanity.
Education is the attainment of the light of knowledge and the removal of the darkness of ignorance. When the light of knowledge befalls we would be able to have the darshan of the true self. And the true self is nothing but consciousness, pure consciousness. When one is able to be in the status of pure consciousness, s/he comes to know that they are nothing but part of the myriads of beings that constitute the very basis of this world.
This realization leads the individual to get rid of arrogance (Self-importance) and become humble. Humility is the cornerstone of dasoha attitude where one offers oneself as the servant of the other, not only as offerings but as one’s supreme duty to help the other grow. Here, growing need not be temporal, or empirical but in spirit and service. This is the fundamental connectedness of all beings in the existential world the Being which is pure consciousness itself and is the dasoha darshan.
