The budding children of this beautiful paradise of Khumbathang (Kargil) are nurtured here, under the able guidance of the management under a dedicated teaching staff. We endeavour to educate, encourage participation in games, develop the confidence to speak and express oneself and gain knowledge. The school was established in the year 2005 under the aegis of 'Forever in Operaions' Division and 'Top Gun' Brigade as a primary school. Initially the School had 03 classes with 102 students. Till Dec 2010, the school was upto primary level. On account of interest shown by the locals and their demands for expansion of the school, it has been upgraded to Middle level. Class VI commenced with effect from year 2011 and every year a new class was added till VIII standard. AGS, Tambis merged with AGS Farona in the month of Nov 2012. The school was earlier affiliated to J&K State Board of Education. With effect from Academic Session 2022-23 the school has been affiliated with CBSE. The first exam session with affiliation under CBSE was concluded in Oct 22. In addition, to standardise the curriculum with CBSE schools and to ensure better continuity for students passing out of Class 8, NCERT book syllabus was implemented for Class 8 in the first session of CBSE affiliation. From the new session that commenced on 01 Nov 22, NCERT syllabus has been implemented for Class 6 & 7 also. the rememing classes will be NCERT from acceademic year 2024.
Most of the students are civilians as there are negligible serving / ex serviceman in the area. The school has a well equipped computer lab with 18 computers. It also boasts of a well equipped library and play area for kids called the ‘Kids Paradise’.
The result of the school have been always encouraging owing to the hard work being put in by the teachers and the regular supervision from the Army authorities.
The Army Goodwill School Farona, is the pride of the villages in Kargil (Kumbathang) and the Parents, Students, Teachers and the Army authorities have been putting in their joint efforts to keep the flag of AGS Farona flying high and make it a model and best school of the area.
