Army Public School, Akhnoor started in 1974 as Chenab Public School. The school was redesignated as Army School in 1990. In 1995, the school bifurcated into Army School and Army Primary School. In April 2009 Army Primary School was merged with A. P. S. Akhnoor
The Mission of the school is to provide an environment that lays emphasis on intellectual and emotional growth in which every student discovers and realizes his/her full potential and highest academic standards are achieved; Where emphasis is laid on integrity, ethics, moral courage, hard work, responsibility and self-discipline; Where activities focus on developing visionary, articulate and confident individuals with sensitivity and concern for the less fortunate, the environment, diversity and communal harmony, human rights and democratic values; Where students, teachers, parents and the administration work together as a nurturing community.
To create or augment Educational facilities to meet the needs of children of Army Personnel including widows & ex-servicemen (Army).
To promote /impart higher education to the wards of Army personnel including widows and ex-servicemen (Army). . To prepare the students for All India Secondary School and All India Senior School Certificate (10+2 stage) examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education with a common syllabi thus enabling the children of personnel who are transferred to be admitted in mid-session. To promote development of academic excellence, discipline, personal character, high sense of values and national integration among the children of Army personnel.
To promote sports and co-curricular activities.
To do such other things which are incidental to the promotion of the aforementioned aims and objectives.
