Army Public School, Jammu Cantt started in the year 1975 with just five students on its roll and was named as TIGER CUBS SCHOOL. Later in July 1984, it was named as TIGER ARMY SCHOOL with Class up to V standard. Subsequently, it was upgraded to Secondary level in 1986 and affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi. The first batch of Class XII was put through All India Senior Secondary/Certificate Examination conducted by the CBSE, in March 1991. School commenced Commerce Stream in 1995-96 and Humanities Stream in 2013-14. Now it has Science, Commerce and Humanities Streams at senior secondary level. School Affiliation No is 780007, the School Code is 23505. Affiliation on regular basis accorded vide CBSE letter No CBSE/Govt. Aff/Category Change/2021 dated 24 Jun 2021.

The administrative wing of the School is located in Satwari House which is a heritage building having historic importance. It was built in 1896 for late Col Sir Neville Chamberlain KCB, KCVO, Central India Horse, the then Military Advisor to H.H. The Maharaja of J & K. In 1905, H.H. King George V and in 1922 H.H. King Edward VIII stayed in this Satwari house, when they visited Jammu as the Prince of Wales. From Nov 1947 to Apr 1948, during the invasion of J & K by Pakistan, Satwari House was the HQ of JAK Force, commanded by Maj Gen Kulwant Singh. J & K was defended from this HQ. Later it was converted into Officers' Mess and on 16 Jan 1988 this historic building was handed over to Army School Jammu Cantt by Maj Gen Ashok Verma, GOC 26 Inf Div. The School has grown in strength and quality and is committed to spread quality education to its students. It is presently known as Army Public School Jammu Cantt.
