BSMM (Bishop Sebastian Mankuzhikary Memorial) Nirmala English Medium School, Thanneermukkom started in 1992. Late Rev. Fr. Alexander Eravimangalam, Vicar of Precious Blood Church Thanneermukkom, started the school in 1992 in memory of Bishop Sebastian Mankuzhikary (1929- 1994), parishioner, to uplift the standard of the people of Thanneermukkom and its surroundings without the discrimination of cast, colour and creed through the education.
After the Ordination Fr. Sebastian Mankuzhikary resumed his studies at the Gregorian University, Rome and took Doctorate in Philosophy. He was consecrated as the Auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam- Angamaly Archdiocese on 6th January 1970. He was appointed as the Bishop of Thamarassery Diocese on 3rd July 1989. He passed away on 11th June 1994 and was buried in the pro-cathedral at Thiruvampady. Fr. Alexander Eravimangalam was a great visionary. His dream was realized with the support of people of different religious faith. Followed him, Rev. Fr. Celestine Inchackal took the charge of Manager and spent his energy and skills for the development of the School. Dr. Margarett Mariam and team from Germany made a contribution for the first phase of the school. Rev. Fr. Joshy Kalaparambath worked hard and achieved No Objection Certificate of Government of Kerala and the Affiliation form the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Now Rev. Fr. Joseph D Plackal is the Manager of the School.
BSMM Nirmala English Medium School is run by Nirmala Educational & Charitable Trust (Reg. No. 232/IV/07) under Precious Blood Church, Thanneermukkom in the Archdiocese of Ernakulam- Angamaly. Cardinal George Alenchery, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church and Archbishop of Ernakulam, Angamaly, is the Patron and Bishop Sebastian Adayanthrath and Bishop Jose Puthenveettil, Auxiliary Bishops of Ernakulam- Angalamy Archdiocese, are the inspiring forces of this School. The School situated in the beautiful location of the shore of Vembanad Lake (Vembanad Kayal), near Cherthala in Alapuzha District, Kerala, South India.
