"The Voltaire high school was born from the desire of His Highness the Emir to open Qatar to the richness of all civilizations and cultures. This idea was supported by His Highness the Crown Prince, even when he asked me why Qatari students did not attend the French High School in Doha more.

I told him that it was because religion, the Arabic language and the history of Qatar were not taught there. His Highness then took the initiative to create a Franco-Qatari high school that would be able to meet the aspirations of Qatari society.

This establishment was opened in September 2007. The French response was the inauguration of the high school by the President of the French Republic with the Crown Prince on January 15, 2008, thus confirming that Franco-Qatari cooperation is a strategic and studied cooperation. It offers future generations of Qataris a great opportunity to master the French language and its civilization without renouncing their own culture, their own history and their own religion."
