ABOUT US
Authentic Yemeni / Local cuisine. Delicious and fresh food, one of the oldest restaurants in the city, their new location is very well designed and has private or regular seating. The Yemeni food such as Salta, Mandi, Mathbi all tastes really good. They added grills too and they are fresh, big portions, a must try! Maybe service can get hectic when it is busy but one of the best places for authentic Yemeni / local food.
portions here were very big. Staff was pretty good and helpful. We had a very good experience. Looking back, we probably would have been better off sharing the portions. We barely touched the fattoush that we ordered.
The best experience for authentic yemeni food!! Everything in the menu is perfect no regrets at all.. prices are cheap too!
A simple restaurant without great set up and luxury approach. Exactly for this all people agree that is an authentic and traditional Arabic restaurant, serving Yemeni food. With hand on my hearth I can tell you the food is incredible tasty, rich in flavors and reminds you the taste of the nature. Every time I come here I found nice people, working hard and serving you quick. Really this restaurant deserves the name "Happy Yemen".
An authentic Yemeni restaurant. Lived there for ten years the taste of the food brought back many memories. Well priced and good big portions. Leftovers were packed nicely in take away boxes. The outside sitting area is nice when the wheatear is not too hot . Highly recommended for a real Yemeni cuisine experience.
One of the most pleasant surprises in this city of contradictions and extremes. Wouldn't find this place by mistake and you wouldn't go there for "girls dinner". It's the word of mouth kind of restaurant that would mainly go around locals. The food in Happy Yemen is delicious. I had interesting pairing of beans with eggs and chicken with tomato, I even eat some of the lamb soup and was told their fish is amazing, unfortunately there wasn't any left.. Amongst all the flavours what convinced me most was their bread, somewhere between curly pancake and naan lies the ground for this delightful fluffy, layered bread that you use to eat all the dishes, than came the dessert, something banana based and something based on dates. We had the two paste like dishes together, no idea of the other ingredients, but it was good. I'd live to try more of their food. Setting is simple from the outside, cosy inside with shoes to be taken down as you enter smaller rooms with pillows around, no tables, just eating from the floor, but nothing matters once you taste it. Not sure they have a menu as I didn't get to choose, not sure they would speak English as I wasn't ordering. If you are lucky enough to be taken here just trust and enjoy
A great place that we discovered because it was indicated by the hotel next door. We had dinner there three nights in a row. Simply delicious, the staff very helpful, attentive. We couldn't taste everything, the portions were gigantic, the bread was truly exquisite and cooked hot. We will come back to Abu Dhabi to come back for dinner! We recommend 200%!
