The Higher Institute for Plastic Industries was established in September 2007 as a non-profit institute at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, in light of which an agreement was signed between the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training and Sharq Company (SABIC). The Japanese company SPDC, the Japanese partner of Sharq Company, contributed to the establishment of the institute.
The Higher Institute for Plastic Industries is the first institute of its kind specialized in qualifying national cadres as skilled technicians in the thriving plastics industry sector in the Kingdom through a distinguished training program presented entirely in English and supervised by Japanese experts from the most prestigious Japanese plastics companies. The training is also implemented by Saudi engineers who are graduates of Saudi universities and who have benefited from scholarship programs, in addition to trainers from different countries who hold engineering degrees and long experience in the plastics industry sector.
The institute is located in the second industrial zone in Riyadh, covering an area of 60 thousand square meters. Its training workshops contain 68 production lines from the best factories in the world, with costs amounting to nearly 150 million riyals.
The institute accepts high school graduates who graduated no more than three years ago. After conducting personal interviews and English language tests, 150 applicants are accepted.
The institute offers specialized courses for those looking for further specialization to enhance their knowledge and skills in the plastics industries.
In addition to specialized courses, the Institute offers short-term courses - one to three days - to assist workers in the field of plastic manufacturing.
