Welcome to PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Haveri, a co-educational residential Vidyalaya situated in district Haveri in the state of Karnataka.
The Vidyalaya was established in the year 1987 in accordance with NPE-1986. Located away from the din and bustles of city life in the lap of nature and encircled by fertile plain, cultivatable land and sparse industries, this Vidyalaya is spruced up with all the ingredients that titivate it with a conducive and congenial academic environment and make it a modern school worth the name.
Admission to Vidyalayas is made at the class VI level through open test conducted at District level by Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
The Vidyalayas seek to promote and develop talented, bright and gifted children predominantly from rural areas who may otherwise be denied good educational opportunities. The Vidyalaya provides facilities of international standards at no cost, in comparison to equivalent schools both nationally & internationally, with substantial contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
The Vidyalaya prides in its sophisticated infrastructure which provide the motivating environment to learning atmosphere. The school building providing classrooms, Laboratories, a computer room, a library, display areas, administrative and faculty rooms. The entry extends on to a platform which acts as a stage during assembly. Side entrances provide access for residential wings. There are hostels which are designed to have good security with closed internal courtyard for outdoor living and passive recreation.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme
The National Policy on Education-1986 envisaged setting up of residential schools, to be called Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, that would bring out the best of rural talent.
It was felt that children with special talent or aptitude should be provided opportunities to progress at a faster pace by making good quality education available to them irrespective of their capacity to pay for it. Such education would enable students from rural areas to compete with their urban counterparts on an equal footing; seamlessly assimilating and intefrating them into the mainstream of the society.
Objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti
To establish ,endow, maintain, control,and manage schools(hereinafter called the 'Navodaya Vidyalaya') and to do all acts and things necessary for or conducive to the promotion of such schools which will have the following objectives:
To provide good quality modern education-including a strong component of culture inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education- to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family's socio-economic condition.
