Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Bishnupur, Manipur was established in 1987-88. The vision & mission of Navodaya Vidyalayas in the whole country is to provide good quality modern education-including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education- to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family's socio-economic conditions.

1. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bishnupur, under the policy 1986 was established in the year 1988  on the Mass Education Campus with classes VI to XII. Vidyalaya is flourishing with all its petals of academic excellences, games & sports, extra-curricular etc.
2. The Main objectives of Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme as set up by Govt. of India are as follows.
   • To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominating from the rural areas without regard to their family’s social economic condition;
   • To ensure that all students of Navodaya Vidyalaya attain a reasonable level of competence in three languages as envisaged in the Three Languages Formula.
