The Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Akhnoor, was established by taking over the Chenab Public School in 1977 as Primary School. Now it has risen to Secondary and senior Secondary school with Science & Commerce streams, with excellent records in Sports, Teaching and C.C.A. The school has been declared as Model School by KVS authorities. Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Akhnoor was established in 1977. The school is running in temporary sheds provided by the Army Authorities.

The students of Vidyalaya have excelled in various Scholastic and non –scholastic activities as they have been provided the best possible infrastructure and guidance which has led to their holistic development. It is pertinent to mention here that the rigorous and sincere efforts of teachers, utmost commitment of students, timely support of parents and VMC members has enabled us to attain great heights and also inspired us to combine classical education with the strength of 21st century technology.
