Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS,High Grounds, Chandigarh was established in 1978 under the patronage of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan, New Delhi an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The four fold Principles for all round development of the children has been the first and the fore most objective of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS,High Grounds, Chandigarh. There are nearly 1405 students on roll in classes I to XII. It has three section sections in class I to X and three streams in classes XI & XII i.e. Science (Medical & Non-Medical), Commerce& Arts. The students are wards of personnel working in Air Force, CISF, ITBP, Army, State Govt. and Floating Population Area of Campus

To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education; To initiate and promote experimentation and innovativeness in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education and the National Council of Educational Research and Training etc.
