We are located in rural Bengal, far away from any metro city, but we aim to transform how education is imparted in this country.

If that seems like a tall claim, we already have solid achievements to back it up.

India, mired in rote-learning, have celebrated our battle against it through numerous news articles, awards, and distinctions. We have been celebrated for our intensely skill-oriented education, with no textbooks before the high school. We are celebrated for our innovative methods for imparting reading, speaking, writing, and thinking skills: ours is probably the only school in the world where movies like ‘The Godfather,’ or ‘The Pianist’ are teaching materials. Ours is a school that not only imparts knowledge, but also creates knowledge: we have built a very effective reading-skill development software in-house; we have built more than hundred (and growing) math apps covering every area of math from simple place-value based addition to calculus.

Our methods work spectacularly. 75% of our entries in the Cambridge IGCSE exams are A/A*s, 98% of our AP (Advanced Placement) grades are 5 or 4, and our students’ median SAT score is 1550 (which is higher than the median SAT of most Ivy league colleges). In all-India based entrance exams like IPMAT or JIPMAT, our students corner multiple single digit ranks (including AIR 1, 3, 5, 8).

Most importantly, we prepare our students for life, not just for exams. For that reason, developing character has as much emphasis in our school as has developing aptitude. Our famous morning common meeting aims to make students socially conscious and self-aware. Our legendary discipline instils in the students a respect for punctuality, silence, and moderation. Our participative classrooms hone their communication skills.

But most importantly, our students cherish their every moment in the school. Here they watch the best movies, they analyze great literature, they debate important modern books like Yuval Harari’s Sapiens in the classroom. They do not only hone their intellectual abilities, they learn how to cooperate, how to resolve conflicts, and how to give back.

And it is the giving back which is the most fundamental mission of the school. Some – the best – of our students work in the school itself after their college, aiming to give others the same delightful experience that they received in their student life. It is those student-turned-school-leaders – we call them Path Ones, because they chose the best possible path – who are our pride: they embody the best that the school has to offer.
