Hafr Al-Batin University was established by Royal Decree No. (20937) dated 06/02/1435 AH to integrate with the rest of the Saudi universities in serving the educational process and to be a tributary and resource for translating the ambitious development plans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Hafr Al-Batin University was launched with an academic legacy from two distinguished schools: the University of Dammam through the Colleges of Education for Girls in each of: Hafr Al-Batin, Al-Nuairyah, Al-Qarya Al-Ulya, and Al-Khafji, which were all under its umbrella, and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals through the Community College and the university colleges for boys under the umbrella of the mother university in Dhahran, which continued from its inception until the date of the announcement of the university
