Vidya Vikas Academy In June 1971, four young professionals – Adv. Hirba M. Naik Gaunekar, C.A. Ganesh M. Daivajna, C.A. Uttam N. Bene, C.A. Sheela N. Borkar – met to share their concerns about the yawning gap between the need and availability of higher education opportunities for students of South Goa.The need existed but could a few young people with no money of their own start a college? They decided to make an effort. If they failed, it would be not for want of trying.
Thus was born Vidya Vikas Mandal which is also registered under the Society’s Registration Act 1860. The Mandal was registered on August 1, 1971, a date chosen to coincide with the death anniversary of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak who had been an eminent educationist.
